Privacy Policy

What data does Browsight collect?

Browsight tracks the time you spend on websites in your browser. This includes:

  • Domain names of websites you visit (e.g. github.com)
  • Time spent on each website
  • Page titles
  • Website favicons

Where is the data stored?

By default, all data stays on your device. Browsight stores your browsing time data locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. No data is sent to any server unless you explicitly enable cloud sync (premium feature).

Cloud sync (optional)

If you choose to enable cloud sync, your time tracking data will be encrypted and stored on our servers to allow access across devices. You can delete your cloud data at any time from the dashboard settings.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your data to third parties
  • We do not track your browsing for advertising purposes
  • We do not collect the content of the pages you visit
  • We do not share your data with anyone

Permissions

Browsight requires the following browser permissions:

  • tabs — to read the URL and title of your active tab for time tracking
  • alarms — to periodically save your tracking data
  • storage — to store your time data locally
  • idle — to detect when you are away and stop tracking
  • notifications — to warn you when approaching daily limits
  • declarativeNetRequest — to block sites when you exceed your daily limit
